Two attempted housebreakings reported in Finsbury, Greenhills respectively

Two incidents of attempted housebreaking, one of attempted theft and one of theft were recorded last week.

It was a relatively quiet week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said only four incidents were reported for the period between Monday, July 18 and Sunday, July 24.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Tuesday, July 19 at 04:51 – Attempted housebreaking on Cederberg Road, Finsbury: Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by climbing over the perimeter wall. They proceeded to the lounge where they broke a window to gain entry, but when the alarm activated the intruders fled the scene without taking anything.

• Wednesday, July 20 at 08:37 – Theft in Ten Acres: On arrival contact was made with the owner who confirmed that perpetrators had entered the premises during the evening and stole 13 pigs, one electric motor and electric cable from an open area behind the premises.

• Friday, July 22 at 09:02 – Attempted housebreaking on Crane Road, Greenhills: Perpetrators attempted to gain entry onto the premises by forcing open a toilet window and breaking the burglar bars. The alarm activated and they fled the scene.

• Friday, July 22 at 13:49 – Attempted theft on Main Reef Road, Randfontein CBD: A perpetrator climbed onto the premises roof where he made a hole and attempted to remove steel from the premises.
