Drive-by shooting leaves one dead, three injured

One person was found shot dead inside a vehicle while three others were injured during a drive-by shooting on the far West Rand.

One person was killed and three others injured in a drive-by shooting on Van Zyl Smit Street in Carletonville on the far West Rand on Thursday morning, July 28.

ER24 and Provincial EMS arrived on scene at about 09:13 to find the local authorities already in attendance.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said, “Medics found that one patient, lying inside a light motor vehicle, had already succumbed to numerous gunshot wounds. Nothing more could be done and the patient was declared dead by the Provincial EMS.

ER24 treated a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound to her buttocks, while the Provincial EMS treated two other patients. Once treated, ER24 paramedics transported their patient to a nearby hospital for further care.”

The exact details surrounding this incident are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
