Housebreakings and theft in Randfontein still a huge concern — Mapogo crime report

During one of the incidents perpetrators made a hole in the perimeter wall to enter the premises, forced open the office's burglar bars, and stole two flat-screen televisions.

It was a relatively quiet week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said four incidents were reported for the period between Monday, August 8 and Sunday, August 14.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Monday, August 8 at 23:34 – Housebreaking and theft, Road 3, Middelvlei. Perpetrators gained access onto the premises, and forced open the back door and safety gate. They stole an unknown number of items from the house and fled the scene.

• Saturday, August 13 at 09:41 – Housebreaking and theft, Maugham Way, West Porges, Randfontein. Perpetrators gained entry over the back wall, pushed open the store door, stole unknown items and fled the scene.

• Saturday, August 13 at 23:51 – Housebreaking and theft, Lazaar Avenue, Wheatlands. Perpetrators made a hole in the perimeter wall to enter the premises, forced open the office’s burglar bars, and stole two flat-screen televisions.

• Sunday, August 14 at 20:36 – Housebreaking and theft, 1st Street, Randfontein. Perpetrators entered the premises by climbing over the perimeter wall. They stole unknown items and fled the scene.
