Theft tops Mapogo crime list of 13 incidents; Greenhills targeted the most

Out of the 13 crime incidents reported to Mapogo security this past week, most were theft-related with the area most targeted being Greenhills.

It was a relatively busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said a shocking 13 incidents were reported for the period between Monday, August 15 and Sunday, August 21.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Monday, August 15 at 20:38 – Theft on Wildebees Road, Greenhills: A perpetrator climbed over the perimeter wall, stole two solar lights and fled the scene.

• Tuesday, August 16 at 08:01 – Theft on Kenneth Avenue, Greenhills: Perpetrators gained entry into the premises, stole bottles of shampoo and tools through an open window and fled the scene.

• Tuesday, August 16 at 20:09 – Theft on Cormorant Street, Helikon Park: A perpetrator climbed over the perimeter wall, stole one solar light and fled the scene.

• Thursday, August 18 at 16:35 – Attempted housebreaking on Lewerik Road, Helikon Park: Perpetrators cut the fence to gain entry into the premises and forced open a door, but did not manage to take anything and fled the scene when the alarm activated.

• Friday, August 19 at 05:19 – Damage to property on Homestead Avenue, Homelake: Perpetrators broke a section of the precast wall but no further damage was noticed.

• Saturday, August 20 at 01:12 – Housebreaking and theft on Sidney Carter Street, Greenhills: Perpetrators gained access over the perimeter wall, broke a classroom window and door, stole two television sets and fled the scene.

• Saturday, August 20 at 04:45 – Theft on Taaibos Street, Greenhills: Perpetrators gained access over the perimeter wall, stole two alarm beam sensors and fled the scene.

• Saturday, August 20 at 04:57 – Theft on Tier Street, Greenhills: Perpetrators gained access over the gate, stole one alarm beam sensor and fled the scene.

• Saturday, August 20 at 05:11 – Attempted theft on Fir Road, Greenhills: Perpetrators gained access onto the premises by cutting the electric fence. They attempted to steal the alarm beam sensor and when the alarm activated they fled the scene.

• Saturday, August 20 at 05:11 – Theft on Fir Road, Greenhills: Perpetrators gained access onto the premises by cutting the razor fence, stole one alarm beam sensor and fled the scene.

• Saturday, August 20 at 05:20 – Theft on Robin Road, Helikon Park: Perpetrators gained access over the front wall, and stole one alarm beam sensor and fled the scene.

• Saturday, August 20 at 05:33 – Housebreaking and theft on Godfrey Road, Homelake: Perpetrators gained access by breaking the palisade from the gate, forced open an office window open, stole various items from the premises and fled the scene.

• Sunday, August 21 at 01:42 – Attempted theft of a gate motor on Elaine Avenue, Homelake: Perpetrators attempted to lift the gate and steal the motor but did not succeed. They only damaged the motor cover and fled the scene.
