Spokesperson Sergeant Carment Hendricks said the campaign was a success and an effort to show police visibility and create awareness where crime is concerned.

“The whole purpose of the campaign was to hand out safety tips pamphlets and contact details of the Randfontein Police’s sector managers and Visible Policing Commander as well as Branch Commanders.

This was also to engage with the community regarding the criminal element and warn against prominent crimes including house robberies, hijackings, bullying, theft, human trafficking, missing persons and cyber bullying.

“We also tackled other criminal elements such as substance abuse, sexual offences and gender-bases violence,” said Hendricks.

She added that during this time, a total of 120 pamphlets were distributed and police officers also visited the victim of a house robbery in Mohlakeng.
Counselling has also been arranged for the victim.
