Police warn of increased hijackings on N12
Motorists are urged to be vigilant at all times while driving on the N12 and avoid stopping unnecessarily.
Bekkersdal Police are appealing to motorists to be vigilant at all times while driving on the N12 and avoid stopping unnecessarily.
This is according to spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane who said that police in the area have raised concerns over incidents of hijackings on the N12.
“Incidents of hijackings along the N12 are of concern to the police. Motorists are targeted while stopping next to the road either to relieve themselves or while picking up hitchhikers.
“Motorists are also sometimes tricked into thinking that there is something wrong underneath their vehicles and this is a method of getting them to stop their cars,” said Lefakane who added that motorists should rather stop at a public place or a filling station where it is safe.
