Man accused of sexually abusing minor granted bail

A man in his 60s who is accused of sexually abusing an eight-year-old girl, appeared in the Randfontein Magistrate’s Court again on March 19.

During proceedings and when the accused was called to stand in the dock, the court confirmed he had been granted bail.

The prosecutor requested that the matter be postponed to consult with the mother of the victim. The accused’s next court hearing will thus take place in Regional Court One on April 15.

The accused’s legal representative approached him to confirm if he heard the date. Thereafter, the accused stated that he preferred to listen to the hearing in Afrikaans. The court translator concluded by stating the outcome in Afrikaans.
