Domestic assaulted during Helikonpark house robbery

The Rand West Neighbourhood Watch has warned that house robberies and burglaries are a concern.

A domestic worker was assaulted during a house robbery in Helikonpark on Monday.

On May 6, police, Rand West Neighbourhood Watch, and private security companies responded to the house robbery taking place in Cormorant Street.

According to the chairperson of the neighbourhood watch, Henry Boyce, the house robbery was reported around 13:00 and the security companies responded swiftly.

“During the incident, the domestic worker had been assaulted. Three perpetrators were caught and multiple weapons including a knife and hammers were found in their possession,” he said.

Boyce further warned that house robberies or burglaries are becoming more common.

“We are appealing to the community to get involved with neighbourhood watches to ensure visibility. The more ears and eyes there are, the faster the reaction time and possibility of intervening with crime.”
