Rand West City Local Municipality has recently executed efforts to fix the pothole next to the Greenhills Cemetery. This comes after DA candidate councillor Tewie Botha issued a report on January 15 to the Roads and Storm Water Department regarding a broken water pipe that resulted in the major pothole in Greenhills Ext 5. Botha stated that the area was becoming an extreme danger zone with no tar road for traffic to use.

On January 16, the road was closed off so that the department could repair the broken pipe. According to Botha, the municipality promptly promised that the roads would be covered in new tar as well as speedbumps. The repairing process was cut short after unfortunate weather issues.

Municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa stated that there was a slight delay when the department started working on repairs. However, he added that the department continued repairs near the cemetery on January 17th.

“If the weather permits further repairing, the department will be continuing today,” Montshiwa claimed.
