Issues to be addressed according to residents

On May 29, South Africans get the chance to vote for the governing party of their choice. Randfontein residents share what they believe should be addressed by the elected party.

With the national elections around the corner and with several problems needing urgent attention, the Randfontein Herald reached out to residents who wish to have their say about what they feel should be prioritised.

Tebogo Nompa explained issues needing urgent attention include unemployment, infrastructure, load-shedding and the care of infants and the elderly. He also added the amount of the Sassa grants should go up, as the amount currently is not enough to survive, it lasts a person about two days to pay bills and then there is nothing left.

Noel George.

Noel George said, “I want the governing party to allow people, in particular foreigners, to stay here without difficulty.”

Koos Seaman.

Koos Seaman noted, “What issues aren’t there to address? There are just problems, I see nothing good. The parties all lie the same.”

Tony Karam.

Tony Karam further mentioned, “The issues that should be addressed include infrastructure, education, and municipal services. I have been having trouble with my municipal account for the past three years now, it is out of proportion. The rates and taxes are too much. I want the governing party not to ask too much for rates and taxes and nothing is being done. I also want the parties to educate voters that there is no more apartheid. Race doesn’t matter. With the new generation, there is no more apartheid. The parties should lecture people on this, that way they will also get more voters.”

Anne-Marie Grobler.

Anne-Marie Grobler concluded, “We have to bring the nation together. We should reunite. South Africa has to stand together.”
