Newly appointed MMC for Public Safety announced
The mayor appointed Duduzile Mbulula as the new Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Public Safety.
The Executive Mayor of Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM), councillor William Matsheke has appointed councillor Duduzile Mbulula as a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Public Safety.
Matsheke appointed Mbulula in terms of Section 60 of the Municipal Structures Act 117 of 1998. The position of MMC Public Safety was left vacant after councillor Nontombi Dyase-Molatlhegi was assigned to be the deputy executive mayor of RWCLM towards the end of 2023.
Mbulula was appointed for this position as Matsheke believes that the full complement of the mayoral committee will help to inject a sense of urgency into the municipality’s work, lift the bar, and adjust the gear on delivery of quality services.
“We will be seeking to do our work more efficiently and effectively. We will be seeking to ensure that our vision of building Rand West City into a City of Choice continues apace and that Rand West becomes the ideal City in which to work, live and socialise,” Matsheke stated.
Matsheke referred to the code of conduct that all ANC councillors signed and made a promise to abide by the commitments.
“On behalf of this collective leadership appointed today, allow me to say that we will serve the people of this great City with dedication and demonstrate even greater levels of commitment. As the executive mayor, I take the opportunity to appreciate the sterling work done by councillor Molatlhegi. I am optimistic that MMC Mbulula will strengthen the department and advance all the ideals as contained in the 2021 ANC Manifesto,” Matsheke declared.
