Many collaborate to help keep Bekkersdal clean

The Bekkersdal Waste Awareness Campaign was recently held to raise awareness about protecting the environment.

Waste Care Innovative Solutions, in partnership with Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) and the West Rand District Municipality, conducted a door-to-door awareness campaign from October 16 to October 20.

The campaign focused on raising environmental awareness, especially in schools, while also addressing illegal dumping by cleaning affected areas, picking up litter, and planting trees at Kgothalang Secondary School. The municipality’s Environmental Department actively participated.

Terrance Masiza, founder of Waste Care, explained that the initiative was designed to promote recycling and environmental cleanliness.

“We achieved our main goal of raising awareness,” Masiza said.

He further emphasised the importance of regular waste collection, home recycling, waste diversion to landfills, and street sweeping to maintain a cleaner environment.
