Dan Tloome water woes spark protest
Dan Tloome residents protested after being left without water for more than three weeks.
Residents of the Dan Tloome Mega City Project took to the streets in protest today, September 1, after being without water for more than three weeks.
The demonstration began about 16:00 in Tafelberg Street.
Community leader Michael Chax Tsone said the municipality had promised to replace a faulty pump but the delay had left residents frustrated.
“The community decided it is taking too long and they came to the street because that is the only language our municipality understands,” Tsone said.

Resident Debra Mtimkulu said many households are also without electricity.
“Some residents stay in darkness, forced to cook on gas stoves or outside on fires. We have disabled, sick and elderly people. Living like this is a safety hazard,” she said.
The Randfontein Herald has requested comment from Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM). None was received at the time of publication.
RWCLM previously confirmed its water department had ordered a replacement pump motor and was awaiting delivery. Tankers are being used in the meantime.
