Smart Licensing Centres extend hours for motorists
The Middelvlei centre gives Randfontein motorists an added opportunity to avoid the weekday rush.
The Smart Licensing Centre at Umphakathi Mall in Middelvlei is among several centres across Gauteng offering extended operating hours and weekend services to make licensing services more convenient for motorists.
According to the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport head of communications, Melitah Madiba, the centres are located in high-density retail and public transport hubs and are designed to improve convenience, reduce waiting times and bring services closer to communities.
She said the modern facilities offer efficient, customer-focused licensing services, supported by advanced technology, cashless payment options and an online booking system.

Services include driving licence renewals, licence applications and testing, learner’s licence services, and motor vehicle registration and licensing,” added Madiba.
MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela said the province is improving access to government services by making them more convenient and efficient.
“These Smart Licensing Centres allow motorists to access critical services at flexible times, including weekends, while reducing long queues. Booking is essential, though,” said the MEC.
Smart Licensing Centres operate weekdays from 08:00 to 17:00 and Saturdays from 09:00 to 15:00.

• RTMC DLTC: Waterfall Park – Halfway House (Johannesburg), operating 07:00 to 21:00, Monday to Sunday
