Toekies takes hands during seventh clean-up campaign

Residents of Toekomsrus came together for a clean-up campaign, aiming to create a better environment for the next generation.

The community of Toekomsrus took hands, once again, during a clean-up campaign to make a difference in their area.

Koekie Allie, a community member, explained that this time they tackled Gouritzrivier Street. She noted that many of the houses have recently experienced water leaks from the water meters, and it caused the grass to overgrow. Allie explained that the road was so badly overgrown that motorists had trouble passing.

She noted this was their seventh clean-up campaign, and the idea was to bring relief to the residents. Allie described the campaign as a big success.

“If our people would only stop littering, Toekomsrus would be cleaner. It would be a pleasure to walk around in the area,” said Allie.

She expressed her hope that other residents would also join their campaigns, realising the area belongs to everyone living there.

“It is for all of our residents’ well-being. To live in a clean neighbourhood is extremely important. It will also attract people from outside, and they will talk about how clean Toekomsrus is,” Allie noted.

“Let’s stand together and build a better future for the next generation.”
