Greenhills Stadium became a place of remembrance as political leaders, comrades, family and community members gathered to pay their final respects to Khumalo.

Family, friends, ANC members and political leaders gathered at Greenhills Stadium on August 13 to honour the life and legacy of former Randfontein mayor and the inaugural Rand West City executive mayor, Mzikayifane ‘Mzi’ Elias Khumalo.

Family spokesperson Castro Mosina remembered Khumalo as a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son and brother.

“While many knew him through his years of public service, leadership and commitment to his community, to us he was simply our Mzi, a man whose love, warmth, humour and presence enriched our lives immeasurably,” Mosina said.

The family thanked those who had offered condolences, prayers and support following Khumalo’s death on August 10.
