West Rand cops intensify operations: 135 arrested

Yet another Operation Okae Molao held by cops in the West Rand from December 2 to 4 yielded 135 arrests.

The Police on the West Rand are intensifying its operations to reduce criminal activities ahead of the festive season.

As a result of yet another Operation Okae Molao held from December 2 to 4, 135 arrests were made this time in the Randfontein policing precinct.

During this time, a string of suspects were arrested for a range of offences including five for murder, eight for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, one for business robbery, one for pointing of firearm, four for assault of a police officer, two for armed robbery, seven for malicious damage to property, one for arson, six for dealing in liquor without license, 18 for drunk and driving, one for possession of substance suspected to be drugs, thirteen for being in possession of drugs, four for assault with intend to do grievous bodily harm, two for dealing in dagga, two for rape, three for contempt of court, one for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm under the domestic violence act, four for common assault under domestic violence, one for common assault and malicious damage to property under domestic violence, one for common assault and malicious damage to property, two for theft, two for possession of dagga, two for dealing in drugs, three for unlawful possession of gold bearing material and illegal mining, three for possession of suspected stolen property, one for possession of stolen property, three for possession of car breaking implements, one for house breaking and theft, one for loitering, one for possession of dangerous weapon, four for possession of gold bearing material, three for contravention of mine safety and three arrests were also made for attempting entrance with the intention to bother or pester through an immoral act.

Arrests for minor offences such as undocumented persons and shoplifting were also made and all those arrested are expected to appear in court soon.
