Use water responsibly – municipality to public as water levels drop

Rand West City Local Municipality has warned residents that they can expect low water pressure in some areas and shortages in others.

Residents within Rand West City are being informed that the water levels in reservoirs have dropped significantly which will have an impact on the overall water supply in the next coming days.

This comes as residents and local businesses are already grappling with the little to no water available in different parts of town.

According to Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, water levels at Eikenhof have dropped which has led to the area’s water supply being adversely affected.

“The municipality depends on the Krugersdorp 3 and Lebanon reservoirs supplied by Rand Water’s Eikenhof Pump Station. However, as of Wednesday night July 12, the Krugersdorp reservoir had a water level of 33.48% while the Lebanon 3 reservoir had a water level of 56.68%. We will likely experience low water pressure in some areas and of course water shortages in others.

“We are doing our part to manage the situation and will continue to monitor water levels. We urge everyone to adhere to water restrictions and use water responsibly,” said Montshiwa.
