Connies raise funds with bingo evening – a first since Covid

The event was aimed at raising funds which will go towards the maintenance of Connie Mulder Centre, among other costs.

Residents at the Connie Mulder Centre along with various stakeholders came out in their numbers for a bingo evening recently.

While the aim was to have fun, it was an opportunity to raise funds for the centre which caters for disabled adults.

The Randfontein Herald spoke to the CEO of the centre, Elona Uys who said 136 people attended.

“This was our first bingo evening in three years and it was really fun. Although we had fewer people in attendance, the evening was still a success.

“The bingo game night is our biggest fundraising event for the year and the funds raised are used to carry out maintenance at the centre and pay for other costs associated with running the place.

“Ten prizes were up for grabs on the day, including a boat cruise trip to Mozambique for three nights, which people were excited about and a wheelbarrow that was full of alcohol,” said Uys.

She added that she is thankful to everyone who came out on the day and contributed to the success of the event.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Dayanand won the cruise trip, while Hanlie Jansen van Vuuren won the wheelbarrow stacked with liquor.
