Mohlakeng resident an artist by blood
The 28-year-old Lebogang Mokaila takes pride in the artwork she produces and hopes to become a household brand one day.
Mohlakeng resident Lebogang Mokaila is painting her way to success and living her dream of being a visual artist.
Born and bred in Mohlakeng, the 28-year-old prides herself on the work that she produces and hopes to become a household brand one day.
Speaking to the Randfontein Herald in an interview, Lebogang detailed her love for painting and just how far back it dates.
“I am a self-taught visual artist who was born and raised in Rand West City. Both my parents are spiritually inclined individuals so they planted that seed in me. My work is influenced by my upbringing, life experiences, people I know, spiritual encounters, my experiences, culture, diversity, nature and human emotions.

“I have always been an artist by blood, I used to draw a lot when I was growing up straight into my adulthood. I started taking art as a professional career in 2021 and have since grown and evolved into the artist I am today,” said Lebogang who added that there is still a lot that she wants to do in her career.
Speaking about her work, the 28-year-old said she hopes to continue evolving and become an established artist who showcases her work nationally and internationally.
“My work shows the beauty of the journey of spiritual beings in human form and the emotions, passions and experiences it brings about. The mediums that I use are charcoal, acrylic, glass fillers, canvas, board, and paper which aid in expressing the relationship between seeing who we are on the surface and forging ahead to know who we truly are, by connecting with the source of life and each other. We are beings of love and light and there’s so much we have to pour out in this world before we leave it,” she said.
She added that she has showcased her work at an exhibition at the Shumba Kraal Place in Johannesburg and even at Heritage Day celebrations in Westonaria.
