Randfontein getting into the Christmas spirit with Santa Run

The event attracted the biking community and people from different parts of the West Rand.

The Christmas spirit has kicked in after the West Rand Bikers Association (WRBA) hosted their most famous Santa Run event at the Randfontein Rugby Club sports ground recently.

According to one of the organisers, JP du Toit, the WRBA Santa Run was well attended by the biking community and the general public. He said the Santa Run started 13 years ago to create a fun family day for the public and bikers with one goal at heart – to collect gifts for Christmas for the underprivileged children of the West Rand.

“The event kicked off with a massive ride of about 125 motorcycles from the West Rand Bikers church where motorcycle enthusiasts came through carrying their gifts, either on themselves or on their motorcycles to support the great cause.

“Lots of entertainment was provided for the day to keep everyone entertained. There were two live bands, jumping castles for the kids, 25 food and craft stalls, and even a blood drive for the SANBS,” said JP.

He added that the toys collected on the day will be given to the different biking clubs that form part of the association and the clubs will then distribute the toys to different charity organisations which have been identified.

He said that the association is also thankful for everyone who supported and assisted in making the day and is confident that the kids will be happy this Christmas.
