Residents share why they walk for charity

Residents who attended the Easter Charity Walk speak to the Herald.

The Randfontein Herald spoke to residents who attended a recent Easter Charity Walk hosted by the Leano Foundation about why they walk for charity.

It has to be noted that the purpose of this event was to raise funds and gather donations for underprivileged children.

Resident Winnie Ramathe, who has a soft spot for children, stated she is proud to be part of the walk, saying it was a success.

Nkele Mamonosi Mangole added the event was a good initiative to raise awareness for children who are in need.

Another resident, Sophie Kutoane said, “I celebrate Easter by visiting my grandparents’ grave. I truly miss their cooking and therefore I decided to join the walk today for the children who do not have grandparents. I think it was very successful.”

Sergeant Malerato Mosesi stated the police wanted to show the community that they also serve and are involved with charity work and not just there to protect.

Benodine Plaatjies from the Traffic Department said that they attended the event to protect those who want to make a change, and was proud to deliver her service.
