Help Eddie the donkey find a loving stable
Eddie the donkey is looking for a loving home and is up for adoption at the SPCA.
The RandWest SPCA is looking for a forever home for Eddie, its beloved donkey, who has been living with them since August.
SPCA manager René van Straten explained Eddie was found as a stray in Bekkersdal and his owner never came forward. He is around four years old.
She noted he is gelded and vaccinated. He gets along well with people and children, however children should never be left alone with any donkey. It is also a requirement that any children under 12 years should accompany their parents to meet him.
Eddie, however, does not get along well with other donkeys and should have a place where he can be alone if there are other donkeys and horses on the property. René noted they hope this will change once he is settled in and now that he is sterilised.
She noted his ideal home would be, a plot or farm where he has his own area and maybe a female, but where he would still receive plenty of love, attention and interaction from his people and family every day.
“Any person who would like to come and meet him, either for adoption or just to say hello and feed him snacks like apples and carrots, is welcome to contact the office on 011 412 3114,” said René.
