Community hero gives back to her alma mater

Community hero gives back to her alma mater, Brandvlei Primary.

Georgina Mapule Mphatswe who recently attended the 2024 South African Heroes Awards and won first place in the Community Service category, visited her alma mater, Brandvlei Primary School, to donate toiletries to children in need.

Georgina is known as a community hero and does her best to help the less fortunate. This month she decided to visit Brandvlei with about 200 sanitary pads, 100 tubes of toothpaste and 50 dignity packs for the school boys.

Georgina mentioned the dignity packs were sponsored by the West Rand Muslim Association and the police’s Crime Prevention Unit.

“I decided to donate to Brandvlei because this is where my education started and therefore I felt the need to give back to the school. Brandvlei is where I was born and bred,” she said.

Georgina said she felt a sense of warmth after donating to her community. It was an emotional moment for her since she was also once a learner in that school.

“The goal of this event was to inspire, motivate and encourage the learners that it is possible to achieve your dreams even when you are coming from a disadvantaged background,” she expressed.

Georgina would like to continue supporting local and rural schools while also donating more.
