Unsolved case: What happened to Casper?

After Casper Keys died in a car crash in 2019, his wife was left to care for their three daughters, but many questions remain unanswered and the case unsolved.

It’s been six years since Casper Keys passed away, and his widow, Leandri Keys, as well as her legal team, are appealing to anyone to come forward with information as to what happened that fateful day.

On March 23, 2019, Casper’s body was found next to his rolled-over vehicle on the R28 towards Randfontein. He was 37 years old.

According to a case document submitted by the Krugersdorp police, they noted that Casper was driving his red Mini Cooper on the R28 towards Randfontein when he was involved in a collision.

The police’s eyewitness stated that they saw Casper’s lifeless body next to his car.

Leandri’s attorney, Pienie Coetzee, explained they suspect another vehicle to be involved. Pienie also stated that it was confirmed that multiple eyewitnesses were also on the scene and could help give more information.

Leandri has come forward to speak about how the incident has left her a widow and her three children fatherless.

We have been through so much since that night. It took my children and me four years after the accident to find our feet again. It has been a rollercoaster,” she expressed.

She further described Casper as a softhearted person who always helped where he could. Casper leaves behind his wife and three daughters, Monique, Mieke and Mekayla Keys.

Leandri filed a Loss of Support Claim with merits settlements for the loss of a breadwinner due to unnatural causes.

I miss the husband and father that he was. We just want the truth so that we can make peace,” she said.

“Please, anyone who can come forward with the truth, no matter how much it may hurt, can contact me.”

If anyone can assist the family with information regarding the night of the collision, contact Leandri on 062 363 8050 or send an email to lkeys3@gmail.com.
