Freedom Day and what it means to youngsters
Two residents and youth came forward to speak about Freedom Day.
The Randfontein Herald spoke to two youngsters and residents and asked them why they think Freedom Day is important.
Hlonofatso Sehlare said he celebrates this holiday eagerly because it brings a sense of unity.
“I celebrate it because I know we as human beings are equal, no matter what the colour of our skin is.
It is an important day, especially for the youth, because it teaches us to be fair to each other,” he explained.

John Qumza stated that Freedom Day is about giving everyone the freedom to equal rights.
“Everyone deserves equal rights. My grandparents fought for freedom so that I could have the opportunity to participate in sports.
Even though our forefathers fought hard for freedom, I still believe there are some challenges which unprivileged children have to face, such as poverty and the lack of medical attention.”
