Adri Gib, founder of Machknitz, stated that their non-profit organisation (NPO) was established in Springs, where she also met Magriet van der Hoven. Magriet is a member of the NPO who also enjoys knitting for the less fortunate.

The NPO’s first project was an orphanage in Vereeniging.

This year we decided it was time to do another child care centre, and we knew Baby G Safe Haven was in drastic need of help,” Magriet said.

Various members of the NPO came together to knit various necessities for the children of the centre. Together they knitted a total of more than two boxes of items, including blankets, toys, sweaters, beanies and much more.

“The centre needs urgent help. Randfontein needs to come together as a community to help those who are trying to do their best. We are so thankful that we chose Baby G Safe Haven because we could see she needs donations,” Magriet emphasised.

“For us, it does not matter what the children’s race is or what they look it. The children never asked to be her. We as adults should realise that children need our help,” she concluded.
