Hope starts with a meal – Help feed Toekomsrus’ kids
Feed the Need Soup Kitchen is on a mission to eradicate hunger in their community. Here is how you can help …
Feed the Need Soup Kitchen has started their weekly feeding for the community’s children again.
Koekie Allie, founder of the soup kitchen, stated that during the school holiday, they are feeding the children as well as hungry community members every Friday, but they need the community’s help.
In order to feed the children nutritious meals, they are in need of maize meal, salt, cabbage, oil, samp, onions and potatoes.
Koekie explained that when they make pap, they cook the cabbage with the pap. When they cook potatoes, they add the onions as well as mushrooms and brown onion soup, and when they serve rice, they add chicken. They still have pumpkins, but they need sugar, margarine and fine cinnamon to give it flavour.
“Even if it is a bag of maize meal or samp, we make a tasty meal for the children. Vegetables are also welcome,” said Koekie.
