110 hampers and more donated to the elderly

In a heartwarming show of unity, police, health officials and NGOs teamed up to deliver food, warmth and care to the elderly in Bekkersdal and Simunye.

Members of Gauteng Provincial Visible Policing, the Gauteng Community Policing Board, the Time to Care Foundation, and the Department of Health joined forces to donate 110 food hampers, blankets, beanies and loaves of bread to Bekkersdal Care of the Aged and other facilities in Simunye.

The initiative formed part of their 67 minutes of service in honour of Mandela Day and reached around 300 residents in total.

According to Sergeant Kamogelo Banda of the Bekkersdal police, the event aimed to build community trust, address social challenges, and raise health awareness.
