Rebuilding after tragedy

Toekomsrus resident Martha Pietersen (73) finds hope after her family home is rebuilt following a devastating fire.

After a devastating house fire destroyed her home, 73-year-old Martha Pietersen can finally smile again.

Her house in Toekomsrus has been fully restored, and on October 17, she received the keys to her new home.

Martha and her family lost everything in the fire, which was reported by the Randfontein Herald on August 29.

While her dresser, an old table and some cutlery survived, she still needs essential household items such as a bed, bedding, closets and clothes.

According to her, investigations revealed the fire was caused by wiring issues.

Despite the rebuilding of her home, Martha admitted she still feels shaken from the ordeal.
