Dog and six cats found abandoned on plot
After Brindle and six cats were found abandoned on a plot, Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary hopes to give them another chance at a loving home.
Brindle, a dog, along with six cats, were found abandoned in Bootha AH after their owners moved away. After plenty of work to earn Brindle’s trust, he is now up for adoption at Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary.
Louisa Rossouw, founder of the sanctuary, explained that the animals were alone, hungry, and terrified after their owners left. She added that none of the animals are sterilised, and two of the cats are heavily pregnant, which means more innocent lives could have been born into the same circumstances.

“They roamed the empty yard searching for food, waiting for the humans who promised to love them. How can anyone walk away, knowing their animals are starving and scared? They didn’t ask to be left behind. They didn’t do anything wrong. They only knew love, and now they know hunger and confusion,” said Louisa.

She continued that after extensive work to earn Brindle’s trust, he has blossomed into a loyal and loving companion. He gets along well with both small and large breed dogs and is very protective of his human. Louisa explained that he is also forgiving despite having been abandoned.

Unfortunately, Cast Aways is at max capacity, and they urgently need a foster or permanent home for him.
“He just wants a safe place and someone to love. If you can open your heart and home to this forgotten boy, please reach out.”

They are also in need of donations for food and vet care for the six cats that were found with Brindle. Louisa noted that any donation, no matter how small, or an offer to foster, would make a difference.
“These seven lives depend on us now. Let’s show them that compassion still exists and that being left behind doesn’t mean being forgotten.”
Anyone who would like to reach out can contact Louisa on 072 812 3333.
