Men must step up, say residents after GBV march

More residents share their views on the recent GBV shutdown and its impact on supporting victims.

With the G20 Women’s Shutdown recently aimed at showing support for those affected by gender-based violence (GBV), more Randfontein residents shared their thoughts on the initiative.

Ishmail Mogwsi said, “The shutdown definitely made a difference by creating awareness for GBV.”

Ashwin Smit added, “I believe the shutdown made a difference. It was a good idea to create awareness and ensure GBV is taken seriously.”

Ester Smit commented, “As a woman, it was amazing and empowering to see other women standing together; however, I still think men need to step up.”
