Residents rally for RandWest SPCA’s Westonaria branch

After storms damaged the RandWest SPCA’s Westonaria branch, the community came together to help restore what was lost.

The RandWest SPCA’s Westonaria branch suffered serious storm damage once again, but thanks to the community’s kindness and support, it was quickly restored.

SPCA manager René van Straten explained that the storm damaged the garage roof and caused a tree to fall onto the kennels.

Fortunately, no one was injured. With the help of a volunteer, Supra Trustees Randfontein and Laerskool Modderfontein Primary, the team decided that, despite all the challenges they faced this year, this setback would not break them.

“Everyone jumped in and helped with repairs and maintenance,” said René.

She added that Supra sponsored both materials and labour for the repairs, while the school assisted with removing the fallen tree. René continued to say that they will be partnering with the school on exciting new projects in the new year.

“Thank you for opening your hearts to us, and thank you to the volunteers who came to help with the maintenance work. You have been our light and given us hope,” René concluded.
