Dachshund missing after festive season fireworks

A frightened senior Dachshund may still be wandering the Greenhills and Randgate areas, and residents are asked to keep a careful lookout.

Boksie, a 10-year-old Dachshund, has been missing since December 27, and her family is appealing to the community for help in finding her.

According to No More Tears Animal Rescue volunteer Clarisse Kruger, Boksie went missing in the Wilbotsdal area shortly after the Christmas festivities.

She was last seen on Greenhills Avenue and may have been moving between the Greenhills and Randgate areas.

“Although the exact way she escaped is unknown, we believe the noise from fireworks may have frightened her, especially as she is not familiar with the area,” Clarisse explained.

Boksie is a caramel-coloured Dachshund with a distinctive kink in her tail.

“Please be on the lookout for her. Do not chase her, as she is scared and may run away. Rather keep her in sight and contact us immediately so we can assist,” Clarisse urged.

Anyone who has seen Boksie or has information on her whereabouts is asked to contact 084 433 7748 or 082 375 8138.
