Try your hand at bowls this Sunday
Step onto the green: Randfontein Bowling Club welcomes all for a fun-filled community day on March 8.
The Randfontein Bowling Club will host a community fun day on Sunday, March 8, inviting residents of all ages to enjoy bowls, socialising and entertainment.
The event aims to introduce more people to the sport of lawn bowls while fostering a friendly, welcoming environment for the community.
“We are a very small club, and this is part of our fundraising efforts to keep the club running. This is a monthly event, and we have people from all walks of life attending,” says organiser Charmaine Stonehouse.
The day will be open to both experienced bowlers and newcomers, with club members demonstrating the basics and assisting those who want to take part in casual matches. Equipment will be provided for anyone who does not have their own.
Beyond the bowling, visitors can enjoy a relaxed social atmosphere, explore the club’s facilities, and meet members of the local bowling community.

The organisers hope the event will encourage more residents from Randfontein and surrounding areas to discover lawn bowls and consider joining the club in the future.
The fun day will take place at the club’s facilities at 8 Homestead Avenue, Randfontein. Registration opens at 10:30, and activities start at 11:00.
Community members are encouraged to come along with family and friends for a laid-back Sunday filled with sport, laughter and community spirit.
