In November 2023, she was promoted to manager in recognition of her hard work and leadership. In this position, she oversaw daily operations while remaining actively involved in animal welfare interventions, helping ensure the organisation continued its mission of preventing cruelty and promoting responsible pet ownership.
Her time at the SPCA included numerous rescues, community outreach efforts, and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable animals.

Committee member Brenda Eloff said it had been an honour to work with Van Straten, praising her dedication and deep love for animals, which consistently went above and beyond. She added that the team wishes her well in her future endeavours.

Van Straten’s final day at the RandWest SPCA will be April 24, marking the end of an important chapter in her career. While her departure signals a significant change for the organisation, her contributions have left a lasting impact on both the team and the community.

As she begins a new chapter, the RandWest SPCA and the wider community have expressed their gratitude for her years of service and unwavering commitment to animal welfare.
