The initiative brought together members of the Mohlakeng station, the Department of Health, and the West Rand District Municipality, all working collectively to promote the safety and well-being of children within the community.
The purpose of the event was to raise awareness about children’s rights and responsibilities, while also encouraging communities to play an active role in protecting children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

During the engagement, officials educated both children and caregivers on the importance of reporting abuse, understanding personal safety, and ensuring that children grow up in environments that are nurturing and secure.
Stakeholders emphasised that protecting children is a shared responsibility that extends beyond law enforcement and government departments, calling on parents, guardians, and community members to remain vigilant and proactive.
The event forms part of ongoing efforts to mobilise society and strengthen partnerships aimed at safeguarding the rights and dignity of all children.
Organiser of the event, Sergeant Portia Mabala, expressed her appreciation to Restoration Edu-Care for hosting the initiative and the stakeholders who attended. Sergeant Mabala reaffirmed the police’s commitment to continuing awareness campaigns across the region.
