The Randfontein Herald recently reported on Leano, currently the president of RHS, becoming the District Representative Council of Learners president.
During the provincial election that took place on April 10, Leano was chosen to represent Gauteng as the new Executive PRO. She is also the first person from Gauteng West to be chosen for this role.
It feels amazing to have been chosen. The competition was intense, there were exceptional people representing the province. That’s what makes this such an achievement for me.”
Her hope for this role is to implement the many ideas she has for her Peer Education Programme, where fellow students can support each other. She noted their topic for this year is to bridge the gap between the fortunate and unfortunate. With her new role as PRO, she will be able to make this a reality.
She noted their next step is to finalise and implement the ideas they, as a council, had discussed during the past weekend in their respective schools and districts.
Further, Leano added that her experience so far has been exceptional. She has learned a lot from the person who was chosen as the President and recognised her importance as the person supporting the one in a leadership position.
