15 RHS learners make national chess moves

Fifteen learners from Randfontein High School (RHS) are competing at a national level, using their best strategies and skills to take on top chess players from across the country.

Fifteen learners from Randfontein High School (RHS) are currently battling it out at the SA Open Chess Championships.

Coach Fernando Nyirenda explained he is proud to announce the learners’ participation in one of the country’s most prestigious chess tournaments.

The tournament began on June 28 and is set to conclude on July 5. The learners are all proud to represent their school on a national stage at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

Fernando offered a message of encouragement to the players.

“Remember that the best is never behind us. Let’s keep our eyes on the future and continue building the bridge ahead. Every move you make now lays the foundation for greater victories to come. We wish all our players the very best for the remaining rounds of the tournament. Your dedication and sportsmanship make us proud!”
