Westgold Grade R learners steal the show
Westgold Primary clinched first place at the Grade R Children’s Celebration Day, with the district-level competition next.
Westgold Primary’s Grade R learners recently stole the spotlight at the Grade R Children’s Celebration Day, securing first place in the Home Language category.
According to Westgold spokesperson Mariska du Plessis, the learners’ efforts were relentless and demonstrated remarkable dedication. She noted this event is organised by the Gauteng West District Department of Education, where more than 20 primary schools participate in a competition using their home language.
The participants were graded on the volume of their voices, props and costumes, body language and concentration. The learners could participate by using a story, song, poem or rhyme.
“This recognition is a testament to the passion, commitment and excellence demonstrated by both our young learners and their hardworking teachers,” Mariska said.
She added that the learners will be proceeding to the district level, where they will continue to showcase the quality and creativity that defines Westgold’s approach to early childhood education.
“To the learners and educators involved, congratulations! Your dedication has not gone unnoticed. Westgold celebrates your success and is incredibly proud of all that you have achieved. Keep reaching for the stars,” Mariska concluded.
