Girls and Boys Town learners embrace the power of a hug

Learners from Girls and Boys Town celebrated hearts and hugs with fun physical activities and uplifting, motivational messages.

The learners of Girls and Boys Town celebrated National Heart Day by sharing the importance of a hug.

Tsepang Motene, the acting principal of the school, stated that they had various activities take place on the day, all to celebrate and promote the power of a hug.

She explained they work with children from destitute families, who have been neglected and abandoned, as well as children who have experimented with substances and children with behavioural troubles.

Another learner pens a heartfelt message on the flag.

“Our focus is on children between the ages of eight and 16. Our programme aims to teach children about family settings since their family settings aren’t the best,” she stated.

Nthabiseng Matale, senior child and youth worker at the centre, concluded that the activities for the day involved various physical tasks as well as writing heartfelt messages on a flag.
