Taxpayers are paying for mismanagement

Residents are being bullied by their municipalities to pay for services they never used.

For years now residents on the West Rand have been suffering incorrect municipal bills and very bad, if any, services. Residents are being bullied by their municipalities to pay for services they never used or received.

Affected property owners, and rates and tax payers are advised to please verify accounts before they pay these excessive amounts. Do not hesitate to contact councillors to assist where problems are encountered. In-depth auditing of the municipal management system is one of the priorities of the new Mogale City Municipality coalition government.

As Freedom Front Plus councillor, I will remain involved throughout the West Rand and assist where urgent attention to the accounting systems in the West Rand District Municipality is required. All irregularities will be investigated together with the newly elected councillors.

Over a number of years West Rand towns have been losing millions due to irregularities and fruitless expenditures by the municipal managers. It is criminal to waste this kind of taxpayers’ money and use bullying tactics by cutting their services if they do not pay these excessive municipal amounts to make up for their losses.

The coalition parties are all in agreement that all irregularities and mismanagement will be attended to. Apart for the corrective action that will be taken, action will also be taken against any person guilty of misconduct.

The Freedom Front Plus gained a councillor in the Rand West (Randfontein and Westonaria) and Merafong City Municipalities, and two seats in the West Rand District Municipality. We will make all the candidates’ names and contact numbers available as soon as everything is in place.
