Please deduct R81,27 off my bill!
I must then pay R81,27 short on my bill for not receiving the sewerage service that I am paying for.
I am a paying customer of the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) for services they render.
For the past two weeks, sewage has been pushing up into our properties due to the drain system being blocked somewhere.
Numerous people have contacted RWCLM and complained about the situation. The answer we receive is: ‘Our truck is broken. We don’t know if they will get a private company to clear the blocked drains.’
First of all, this is a health hazard. Secondly, I am being billed a basic sewerage levy of R174,15 per month as a sewerage customer.
That amounts to R5,80 per day. Now, if my sewerage system didn’t function for two weeks, what am I paying for? I must then pay R81,27 short on my bill for not receiving the sewerage service that I am paying for.
I am sure this won’t be acceptable to RWCLM, just as the overflowing drains are not acceptable to us.
Can we please have action, or must we take action?
