Just one too many power outages in Toekies

Without dismissing the relevance of Covid-19, but the news about Covid-19 is available on various platforms, all over the media.

Of concern to me is that there has been no updates in the Herald about the wide-spread power outages in Toekomsrus. We go without electricity for up to 24 hours at any day.

Recently, there was a report on the other parts of Randfontein experiencing a power outage and the reason for it, while at the very same time parts of Toekomsrus was also without electricity and no reasons were given. The previous week the Herald reported about the power outages in Mohlakeng, but no updates on Toekomsrus. When you try to enquire, it is either the municipality that doesn’t answer the 087 number or the person who answers will just ask for your details and say she will pass the complaint to the electricians, end of story.

We are without electricity in this cold without any explanation from anyone. The electricity comes and goes for hours on end on a daily basis in Toekomsrus. Is it possible for the Herald to get an explanation from the municipality

*Regarding the Covid-19 updates on our website, we make it easier for our West Rand audience to see how the pandemic affects them directly by giving daily updates. As far as the power supply interruptions go, we rely on our readers to let us know when such unplanned outages occur. We appreciate your letter, and have forwarded your query to the municipality spokesperson and are awaiting feedback. Please note that due to the current economic situation the Herald has one journalist in the field trying to assist whoever and wherever he can. The elected ward councillors should also be able to assist you. – Ed.
