Mile High impresses in own tournament
Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan Club performed well in their own tournament recently.
On Saturday, 19 November, Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan Club hosted a tournament at the Mile High Kickboxing XXX gym.
This tournament saw a total of 14 fighters fighting their hearts out against other clubs in the hope of grading to a higher belt the following day.
Some of the results are as follows:
– Junior Jaun Carstens fought in a Shidokan Light fight and beat his opponent in Round 2 in 58 seconds by a TKO.
– Ansie van der Merwe fought in an Extreme Striking fight. She took the victory in Round 2 in 58 seconds by a TKO.
– Bernard Geldenhuys fought in a Shidokan Light fight, but lost in Round 2, by a TKO.
– Murial Vinney fought in an Extreme Striking fight and won in Round 2 by a TKO.
– Chris Pieterse fought in an MMA fight, but lost in Round 3, by a TKO.
– Hannes Bouwer fought in an Extreme Striking fight, but lost in Round 2, by a TKO.
– Allen Chafford fought in an Extreme Striking fight, but lost in Round 1, by a TKO.
– TJ Lubscher fought in Extreme Striking fight and won on points in three rounds.
– Junior Jan Barnard fought in an Extreme Striking fight and won on points after three rounds.
– Sam Grobler fought in Extreme Striking fight and won in Round 2 by a TKO.
– Matys Strydom fought in an MMA fight, but lost to his opponent after 30 seconds of fighting.
– Shihan Shaun Romer achieved a draw after three rounds of Shidokan fighting.
– Ruan Erasmus fought in an Extreme Striking fight and won in Round 2, by a TKO.
– Leslie van Rensburg fought in a Shidokan fight, but lost in Round 1 after one minute and 52 seconds by a TKO.
“The fighters of Mile High Kickboxing and Shidokan club do not know about giving up. We have serious fighters here,” said Henk Pelser, owner and coach of the club.
However, reward comes with hard work, and therefore, all the fighters that fought in this tournament received a higher belt the following day.
“As this is one of the most extreme sports, all the students that fought on Saturday graded for their next belts on Sunday with all the bumps, bruises, aches and pains,” Henk concluded.
