What not to miss in sport this weekend!

Here's what's happening in the sporting world this weekend.

You might want to cancel the extra Valentine’s plans and leave the washing till sometime in the week, because there’s plenty of sporting action to look forward to this coming weekend.

The Herald has compiled a list of some of the must-see sporting events that will be screened on television on Saturday, 17 February and Sunday, 18 February.

SATURDAY, 17 FEBRUARY

Rugby:

• Super Rugby is back! The wait has been long but the first round between the Stormers and the Jaguares from Argentina kicks off at 3pm at Newlands in Cape Town, followed by a mouthwatering all South African derby between the Lions and Sharks in Johannesburg at 5pm. Also catch some Aviva Premiership Rugby between Leicester Tigers and Harlequins from 4.50pm and Top 14 action from France between Lyon and Clermont Auvergne at 9.40pm.

Football:

• Local South African sides will go head-to-head in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge as early as 9.30am, with the first match between AmaZulu FC and Maritzburg United, followed by Kaizer Chiefs against Platinum Stars at 11.55am. There is also the ABSA Premiership to look forward to and teams in action are Golden Arrows vs Bidvest Wits (3pm) and Kaizer Chiefs vs Cape Town City at 7.30pm. English clubs then lock horns in the fifth round of the FA Cup with Huddersfield Town facing Manchester United at 7.30pm, and Chelsea taking on Hull City at 9.45pm.

Motorsport:

• NASCAR Xfinity Series Powershares QQQ 300 from 9.30pm

• Olympic Winter Games action from South Korea throughout the day

SUNDAY, 18 FEBRUARY

Rugby:

• Top 14 rugby action from France will continue at 5.45pm between Racing 92 and La Rochelle, while another grueling Aviva Premiership Rugby clash between Wasps and Exeter Chiefs will be broadcast live from 4.55pm.

Cricket:

• With the Indian men’s team having got the better of the Proteas, our women’s team would want to make amends by beating the Indian women’s team in a T20 International from 9.45am. Also catch New Zealand and England in action in the sixth Twenty20 Trans-Tasman Tri-Series from 7.30am.
