Moddies first team undefeated
Laerskool Modderfontein Primary managed to bring home three trophies from the Golden Lions Development League.
The 2018 rugby season at Laerskool Modderfontein Primary is one that will be long remembered.
Not only did three of the school’s teams win their respective leagues, the first team finished the season undefeated.
“History was made once again when the U/10, U/11 and first teams won the Golden Lions Development League,” said Taryn Harmse, sport coordinator at the school. The U/9 team reached the semifinal.
“The first team showed that winners are not those who never fail, but rather those who never quit when the scoreboard showed a score of 21–5 in the opposing team’s favour, with only 10 minutes left on the clock,” Taryn said.
The match on 16 June Taryn was referring to, Moddies eventually won 24–21 to finish their season without losing a game.
Taryn said the school believes that in 2019 all four trophies for this league will be back on their shelf where they belong.
