Westgold shows promise despite tough outing against Noordskool

Laerskool Westgold Primary delivered a spirited performance against Krugersdorp-Noord, with standout wins and a competitive first team clash, but costly second-half errors proved decisive.

Laerskool Westgold Primary faced a determined Laerskool Krugersdorp-Noord on Tuesday, June 2, in a full day of rugby action, with a mix of results highlighting both promise and areas for growth across the teams.

The youngest sides kicked off the fixtures with spirited performances. The U9A team narrowly lost 12–5 in a closely contested match, while the U9B side gave Westgold an early boost by securing a solid 15–10 victory. The U10 team, however, found it difficult to gain momentum and went down 17–0.

Westgold’s U11 team delivered one of the standout performances of the day, showing confidence and attacking flair to claim an impressive 28–14 win.

In the senior primary ranks, results proved more challenging. The third team fought hard but came up short in a 17–10 loss, while the second team endured a tough outing, losing 45–0 against a dominant Krugersdorp-Noord side.

The first team match was a competitive encounter, with Westgold showing strong intent and resilience. However, two costly mistakes in the second half allowed Krugersdorp-Noord to capitalise and pull ahead, resulting in a 21–10 defeat for Westgold.

Despite the results, the day was filled with valuable lessons and moments of determination from the Westgold players. Their fighting spirit and commitment remain clear, setting a strong foundation for improvement in the matches ahead.
