Super Tigers Football Academy makes comeback

Founder Bongani Duiker left the Academy for six years to pursue his own life goals, but was called back by one of his former players.

In 2000 Bongani Duiker started the Super Tigers Football Academy. After six year away from the club, he is excited to get a chance to share his knowledge with the West Rand’s youngsters.

Bongani, 53, has been playing soccer since he was a child and later played professionally.

Today he wants to be a role model for the youth while promoting the sport.

The Super Tigers Football Academy’s main goal is to educate the players and to promote sport and exercise while motivating them to be the best they can be in their personal lives.”

According to Bongani the Super Tigers Football Academy has delivered professional soccer players. “I am so proud of all the players I trained through the years. Some players graduated in law, others are in the marketing industry and there are also a few artists and entrepreneurs. Even after leaving the club, they remain focused.

“That’s what sports teaches you,” he said.

Bongani said sport plays an important role as it teaches one time management, focus and discipline, and gives one a positive mindset.

In 2007, he also started the Tiger Development Community Games, a local tournament, and in 2009 he introduced netball into the club.

“The netball ended in 2012 because of many factors. I also left the club for six years to pursue my own life goals, but I got called back by one of my former players. I am excited to build up this Academy and reach new heights,” he said.

The Super Tigers Football Academy trains players for U/7 to U/19 at the Greenhills Stadium.

The Academy will also be hosting a Super Tigers Football Academy reunion on the 26 October. All former players of this club are welcome to contact Michael Tsone on 079 231 0288 for more information regarding the reunion.
