Meet a Super Tiger: Thamsanqa Mqabha

Thamsanqa Mqabha (22) has been playing for the Greenhills Super Tiger Football Club for two years and dreams of someday winning the World Cup.

The 22-year-old started his soccer journey when he was in Grade Four. A new boy moved into his neighbourhood and one day asked him if he would like to join him for soccer practice.

Since then, Thamsanqa fell in love with soccer. He has been playing for over 10 years.

“The moment I started playing soccer, I wanted to know more about the sport,” he said.

His main goal is to play for the Barcelona Football Club someday. He also wants to be on the soccer team that wins the first World Cup for South Africa.

“My main drive is the urge to become better. I advise the young people to always practice and improve themselves, not just in football, but in life,” he expressed.

Although Thamsanqa sustained an injury in November of 2023, he still strives to become better. His knee is still giving trouble, but he tries to continue with his dream of playing for Barcelona.
